Pictures from trip in August 2005 on Manchester Ship Canal from Salford (Manchester) to Liverpool.

The back of somebody’s head – oh yes, and the exceptionally modern Imperial War Museum in Salford Quays.

Barton swing bridge, which caused a two hour delay by not opening. The bridge is part of another canal and narrowboats kept going over it, while our Mersey Ferry was queuing up in Manchester Ship Canal to go through.

A plane landing to Barton Aerodrome.

Our guide, the professional Scouser.

Looks a bit like James Stewart but sounds nothing like him.

Fellow passengers looking very excited (!). “Some Bridge” on the background.

Peter – he doesn’t sound like James Stewart, either.

Bridget, Peter and Annie.

View of Liverpool from the River Mersey. On the right, Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and the Catholic Cathedral, i.e. the Crown of Thorns on the left.

Liver Building in Liverpool.

Our sister ferry, which followed us the whole distance.

Back on firm land in Liverpool - Liver Building from closer up.

A nice setting and a nice day for the buses to wait for us in Liverpool.
